NCALEA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

MINUTES OF MEETING

NCSA, Winston-Salem, NC 9/14/07

 

Present: John Reaves, Laurie Austen,  Deb Cheesebro, Walter Faye,  Jeff McCracken,                         Regina Lawson, Steve Gregory, and Peggy Schaefer.

 

Financial Report

 

  • Checking account – 21,621.81; with outstanding debt fro the conference that will exceed $ 7,333.20.

 

Awards

 

  • We are attempting to secure the address to send  retired Chief  Helton, his  award prepared for the conference.

 

Task Forces

 

  • AG Security Task Force – President McCracken and Chief Lawson provided information about the Task Force and asked for additional input.  The task Force has divided into 4 subcommittees. Jeff McCracken is on the Preparedness Subcommittee.

 

  • UNC Task Force – The group discussed concern with some of the preliminary recommendations being considered.  The members suggested that President McCracken address the Task Force.  Chief Bell will be contacted about this.

 

Training

 

  •   RAD

o       10/29-31 basic RAD won’t interfere with one scheduled in December.

o       December 12/10-12/14 Wake Forest University. Basic and Advanced RAD to be conducted. We can have 16 for the Basic and 10 for the Advanced.  NCACLEA members will receive a $50. discount for each program.  The agency will need to pay the tuition and seek reimbursement from the Association.  We will recommend that a participant have been a Basic RAD instructor for 6 months-1 year before taking Advanced.

 

  •  Non-Sworn Training title to be changed to “Security Officer Training.”

 

 

 

  • January training registrations are than lower than expected, however, we are doing outreach for it.

 

  • Peggy Schaefer attended the meeting and we discussed the potential for a “Campus Law Enforcement Training” program.  Members discussed a past program of a similar nature and what concerns they had about it’s content and delivery.  NCACLEA Board members indicated that they would assist with any input or other identified needs, if such a program moved forward.
