NCALEA BOD Meeting 04/24/09

Present:  Jeff McCracken, John Reaves, Laurie Austen, Steve Gregory, Laurie Palazzo, Lila Humphries (NCJA ),  Ron Stowe

Meeting on non sworn training was discussed before the BOD meeting.  Laurie Austen will provide minutes of that meeting.

 

Meeting Minutes

Summer Conference.  John Reaves related that John Barnwell from NCSU was going to present Threat Assessment Training.  This training will cover what a threat assessment team is, who should be on the team, roles of team members, etc.  Captain Barnwell will also try to bring the case manager for NCSU with him. 

The second part of training will consist of a round table discussion on what works, what doesn’t work.  This is a way for members to share ideas and programs about their successful and unsuccessful experiences on campus programs.

Meals were discussed for the conference.  Steve Gregory presented a cost estimate from Golden Corral.

John Reaves asked Steve to check with the Subway on Wake Tech campus to see what their cost proposal will be.

John also asked to have hotel reservations at the Comfort Inn checked.  We reserved 44 rooms for July 8^th and 44 rooms for July 9^th.  As of 04/27/09 only 8 rooms had been reserved for July 8^th and only 9 rooms have been reserved for July 9^th.

The association website was discussed.  Campus news such as promotions, retirements, etc is being proposed and can be updated every 45 days or so.  The association would like to profile a chief or director each time the site is updated.

There have been no nominations for awards so far.  John was going to ask Dana to resend that information as well as an announcement about this year’s training. Steve said he would send to the community colleges.
