IACLEA Conference 2011 Charlotte, N.C.

Marlene Hall, Chief UNCC, presented the following information about the upcoming 2011 conference.  This event will be at the Weston Hotel in uptown Charlotte. UNCC is hosting the event and will need help in this endeavor.  Peter Berry, ICLEA Chief Staff Officer, will visit UNCC in April 2010 to start planning for the conference.  A representative from NCACLEA will also attend this meeting to help plan the best use of the Associations resources.  Mr. Berry will also visit Charlotte again in the fall of this year.  Chief Hall stated the IACLEA is asking for the Events Night to be hosted by local schools, the cost for this event is estimated to be $8,000.00 to $12,000.00.  Marlene has already been in contact with the Charlotte Mayor’s officer about the opening ceremony.  She also mentioned about the Color Guard being part of the opening ceremony.

Attendance is expected to be 300 to 400.  There are expected to be 70 to 100 spouses and 20 to 30 children that will accompany attendees.  There will be approximately 100 exhibitors.  IACLEA is also asking for local vendors to attend.  Some optional programs or events that are suggested are a golf tournament, local workshops for spouses/children such as cooking classes and museum tours, etc.

Wake Forest University hosted the IACLEA conference in 1993.  Regina Lawson related that the conference required a lot of work and cooperation for several agencies.
